The column that doesn’t have a name yet… part V
Have you ever had the issue of not having enough space on your TomTom device to install new software? The message would look something like this while using TomTom Home:
HOME error: “There is not enough free space on your TomTom device to install the item.”
If so, we have a solution for you!
Usually you will receive this error message after you have downloaded a file that is too large to fit on your TomTom or memory card. You may also get this message while attempting to download and install a new map.

To rectify this issue, most of the time you simply need to remove some items from your TomTom prior to the updating process. To see more information on how to do this, please see here
However, if that doesn’t work, see below for a more detailed solution:
Step 1. When you receive this error message, click Done. You will be prompted to remove items from your device and the amount of space will be displayed in the bottom of HOME.

Step 2. Select the items you want to remove and then click Remove selected items.
Note: Every TomTom devices requires at least one application, map and voice to operate.

Step 3. Click OK to remove the selected items.
Step 4. You will be prompted to Save a copy of the items you are removing.
• If want to save a copy, click on
• If you don’t want to save a copy, deselect the items by clicking on the checkbox
next to each item you are removing, then click
Step 5. HOME will then remove the selected items from your device.
Next, to actually install the items you downloaded:
Step 1. Click Back and return to the Main Menu in HOME.
Step 2. Click on Add Maps, Traffic, Voices etc. > Items on my computer.
Step 3. Click the plus symbol next to the type of item you want to install (Applications, Maps, etc).
Step 4. Next to the item you want to install, click Add.

Hope this helps!
