How much?
$129.95

Where can I get it?
Check the Store Locator on the TomTom homepage, or head over to the webstore TomTom.com.

Where does it get its traffic data?
The receiver gets data from the Clear Channel traffic FM data feed. Here’s a map of all the areas where the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver can provide incident data

Is the traffic data free?
Each RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver comes with a one-year subscription to the traffic data. It will be $59.95 per year thereafter.

Is the Traffic Receiver locked to one device?
No. The RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver can be moved from device-to-device without affecting your subscription. There is an internal timestamp in the receiver that is activated when you first plug it in, however, the TomTom device does not affect this at all.

Here’s a question that must be frequently asked: will it re-route based on the traffic data? For example, if I’m travelling from A to B, and can take either Road1 (10 miles) or Road2 (15 miles), my device will select R1. However, if I have traffic data indicating that R1 is averaging 10 mph and R2 is rolling at 60 mph, will it route me along R2 instead?

I have tried to upload documents from Microsoft 2003 Word into my 720. It shows that they are there but won/t read them What am I doing wrong?

Unfortunately, the GO 720/920 Document Viewer can’t display .doc files. However, if you convert the file to .rtf or .txt, it should read fine.

Is the RDS-TMC compatible with the MacIntosh computer? I’ve been told that you have no customer service people who know anything at all about Tom-Tom GPS compatibility with MacIntosh computers. Do you have anyone knowledgeable with Macs? Please reply as soon as possible. Thank you.
One more. Can the Lithium-Ion batteries be recharged in our car lighters? How much do they cost to replace?

Yes. When there is traffic on your route, you can tell your TomTom to offer you an alternative route that is more efficient than your current route. This, however, will not happen automatically.

The RDS-TMC antenna is for the device only. It doesn’t have to connect to your home computer. Our Support staff is well-trained in Mac technology and is happy to help you with any issues you may be having. Our internal batteries can be charged via your PC (USB-enabled devices only), with the included cigarette lighter adapter, or with an AC-charger accessory.

I had the same issue as John. My subscription worked for an entire year (I purchased it in May of 08, and it worked until May of 09). When I went to download the update, for which I paid on TomTom Home, it did not work. I was then sent a new receiver - pretty much the same one I had, only newer - not the new style that has since been released. It did not connect at all - just a spinning earth splash screen that was saying it was trying to connect. My husband looked at the unit and said it appeared as if I was missing a pin in the connector hole on the bottom of the unit. Since my unit is a month out of warranty, TomTom will not fix it. The new style receiver uses the USB port for the car charger. I am going to try that, and since I was expecting to pay for a new traffic subscription anyway, I am hoping this will save me from spending a lot of money on a new unit that is only a year old. It appears that TomTom did realize this design was flawed and came out with a new receiver at the price of renewal of a traffic subscription so that this problem might be alleviated for a while. I’d like to get more than a year’s worth of use out of a GPS unit, so I’m hoping this will work. I am waiting for the Mount for the iPhone and the App to be released so that I don’t have to depend as much on my unit, especially if that pin is indeed missing.

Bought a Tom Tom RDS-TMC receiver on e-Bay. In the TomTom documentation, it says to simply plug this item into your Tom Tom. WHERE?? I don’t seem to have a port for this pin. My car charger plugs into a usb port on the Tom Tom. Is there an adapter I can put into the usb port so I can connect the pin on the RDS-TMC? I am planning to use it with a Tom Tom One 3rd Edition

Also, purchased a Tom Tom 130 for my son-in-law as a gift. When I look at the 130 documentation, it says: Tom Tom One - is this unit the same as a Tom Tom One?? Thanks. Rich

Hi Richard - You will need to use the USB port on the TomTom when you connect your RDS-TMC. I would suggest you charge your device fully, before use, so that you will not have to switch back and forth.

As for the 130 - the device name is actually the TomTom ONE 130, so I’m assuming this is where the confusion lies. Check the box - does it say TomTom ONE 130? Previous to the TomTom ONE 130, we had a product also called the TomTom ONE.

Hope that helps!

Ashley
