I used Bluetooth hands free calling today on a TomTom Eclipse connected to my iPhone.

iPhone. Very cool Tim. I use an AT&T Motorola L6 with my GO 910; works a charm.

I just bought a Tomtom One XL for my wife’s birthday. I am concerned, as she has a new AT&T Samsung phone and I have a new Treo 680. According to your small list of compatible phones, neither of our will pair with the Tomtom. If this is true, I will have to return the unit because hands free calling is required in Washington now, and if this unit can’t do it with our phones, we will be forced to come up with a different solution.
Is there and updated comprehensive list of compatibile phones?

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately handsfree calling is not a feature supported by ONE XL. You would need to upgrade to the GO series to get handsfree calling out of your GPS device. You can always check the most up-to-date list of compatible phones at tomtom.com.

The GO 300 is Bluetooth-enabled for access to TomTom PLUS Services. I don’t know, off the top of my head, if that particular phone is compatible. I’d give customer support a call at 866-486-6866.”

If i read the list correctly my LG vx8300 is not compatible with ONE XL. Is that the reason that I get the “pairing failed” when trying to connect? And if I did have a phone that was compatible, what would it allow me to do, I’m assuming that “hands free” means that i could talk and listen using the ONE XL mounted to the window? Is there a patch file i can load to enable this unit for my phone?
Thanks

It might depend on your carrier, but you’re right, based on the official compatibility list, your phone is not compatible with ONE XL. However, it’s important to note, that the Bluetooth connection for ONE XL is not for handsfree calling. This feature is not available on the ONE XL. The Bluetooth is for access to TomTom PLUS Services like Traffic, Weather, and Buddies.

When your phone asks for a passkey, use ‘0000′ (four zeroes).
