It can be frustrating when you put your GPS device on the mount, start it up, turn it on, start typing your destination only to have that battery warning start blinking. Keeping your device charged does not have to cause headaches though. My friends at TomTom Support have put together this comprehensive FAQ on the different ways to charge your TomTom GPS. Best of all, it’s for ALL devices.
Check out the basics of charging your TomTom GPS.

Can I use any usb to charge my tom tom one navigator on the computer? I did not buy a usb that came with tom tom.
Mary, for the safety of your GPS device, we recommend using only the USB cable that came with your TomTom. This will ensure you always get the best charge and run no risk of internal damage.
Will it harm my tomtom to plug the vehicle charger to it all time i am driving?
No, this will be fine. You may just want to unplug it when not in use.
My TOMTOM XL is having trouble with the screen going blank when it’s not connected to a charger. I made sure the screen setting was “Always On” under the Safety menu. Is it trying to preserve battery power by going blank, even when there is route guidance going on? Finally, does the XL charge anytime it’s connected to the computer via USB? Thank you!
does connecting my tomtom to my computer with the usb that it came with also charge the battery?
