But the gist is, we’ve combed through the online forums and we’ve spoken to TomTom Customer Support to find what people are talking about in regards to using their TomTom devices.

First up! It seems that sometimes, especially when you first turn on the GO 920, 730 and 930, the icon for Voice Address Input is greyed out, seemingly yielding the feature inoperable.

Today TomTom announced that research findings from the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute as well as the Dutch research institute, TNO, proved that portable navigation devices have positive influences on driving and traffic safety. Highlights from the research showed that drivers who use a portable navigation device experience less stress and feel safer.

With so many things to pay attention to and focus on while driving, it’s understandable that safety and the reduction of stress are top priorities for drivers.

We have great news to share! Since finalizing our acquisition of Tele Atlas last week, we are pleased to announce that TomTom will be providing all Map Share™ feedback to Tele Atlas. With this new merge, the contributions of 20 million customers will be a great addition to the maps used by Tele Atlas users.

According to Harold Goddijn, the CEO of the new company identity, “[this change] will ensure that everybody can benefit from this community feedback, and the amount we have received is staggering. On average, by the end of 2008, if you drive anywhere for one hour with a Tele Atlas map enhanced by Map Share feedback, your route will be influenced by more than 20 corrections.”
