Help me GO 720… Help me, help you!

Bad stuff happens. Murphy even wrote a Law about it. The new TomTom GO 720’s ‘Help me!’ menu is designed to help you out when stuff goes wrong.

Instead of fumbling through phonebooks or using 411, the Help Me! menu can automatically route you – walking OR driving – to the nearest emergency services like police and hospitals, all with a few taps on the screen.

If you’ve paired a compatible Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone with the GO 720, you can also immediately call emergency services via your device.

The feature I find most useful in the Help Me! menu is the Where am I? button. If, for example, your car breaks down in an unfamiliar place, Where am I? provides you – in plain English – a description of your current location including Latitude/Longitude, even if you’ve recently lost GPS satellite lock.

All in all, Help Me! is simply about keeping you safe and confident behind the wheel. There’s lots more to Help me! and it’s just one of the many all new features of the GO 720. Head on over to TomTom.com to learn more!

Well, for the second consecutive year, the team survived. Saturday brought oppressive heat and humidity, but Sunday’s mild sunshine found all five Team TomTom riders in good spirits. They finished together as a team and greeted our pedal partners at the finish.

Once again, the team was proud to have participated in this superlative charitable event. We can’t wait for the 2008 Pan Mass Challenge. See you on the roads next year!

Meet 2007 pedal partner Sydney Jo Barrette

Last year, the Pedal Partner program paired Sydney Jo Barrette with TomTom’s 2006 Pan Massachusetts Challenge 10-member cycling team. Well, it’s a year later, Sydney Jo is now four years old and we’re again riding in support of her (winning) battle with leukemia.

Sydney Jo is the inspiration behind Sydney Jo’s Hope Chest, a nonprofit venture that collects donations including books, toys, games, and hats for children of all ages.

The TomTom team is honored to be riding for Sydney Jo – once again - and Megan O’Neil as well. They are our inspiration.

Those gadget-loving guys over at Engadget have posted a round-up of quickly-emerging reviews of the TomTom GO 720.

Engadget writer Donald Melanson says, “It looks like TomTom’s managed to hit all the right marks with its new GO 720 GPS unit, at least according to the first few reviews that have turned up, which all seem to have found plenty to like about the device.”

Gearing up for the PMC

PMC07_1.JPG

Just two days before the 190-mile Pan Mass Challenge, the TomTom cycling team is getting their last miles in before Saturday’s Ride-a-thon.

This year’s PMC is presented by the Boston Red Sox and Overstock.com. On August 4 and 5, 2007, 4,800 cyclists will travel nine routes all in the hopes of raising more than $27 million for the Jimmy Fund.

Our five-member team (Jocelyn Vigreux and Jennifer Winter didn’t make this picture) is proud to be a part and we invite you all to visit the race route and cheer on all the riders. You’ll be able to spot the TomTom riders because they’ll have the iconic TomTom hands popping out of their helmets!
