An interview with Sylvia

Allow me to introduce one of TomTom’s most popular character voices: Sylvia.

,DanaInfo=exchange.ad.mdp.com,SSL+sylvia.gif

This feisty Londoner has lent her voice to thousands of TomTom devices worldwide. Club TomTom was lucky enough to get the first ever interview with this PND sensation.

Club TomTom: First of all, thanks for stopping by Sylvia. We know you’re very busy, especially during the summer driving season.

Sylvia: It’s my pleasure. Anything for my fans… and I really mean that.

CTT: Good to know. Sylvia, you were a popular voice download from the beginning. How did you get this gig?

Sylvia: Well, it’s all about who you know. I know a lot of people, who also know a lot of people… the right people. And if those people happened to leave their address book laying around one day… well, let me just say that now I know the right people too.

CTT: That’s not vague at all. What is it about your voice that makes it so popular?

Sylvia: Well, I want people to really follow my instructions and that was my inspiration. Turns out, getting people to do exactly what you want them to do isn’t as hard as you think, as long as you know how to say it.

CTT: Sylvia, our research shows that you’re significantly more popular with male drivers. Any thoughts on why women shun your directions?

Sylvia: I’d hate to imply that they’re jealous because their men are more likely to listen to me than them, but it looks like I’ll have to in this case.

CTT: Gotcha. Would you be willing to say a few words for us?

Sylvia: Of course.

CTT: Wow. That was… something else… is it hot in here? Well, anyway. Thanks for stopping by Sylvia, please come by again.

Sylvia: You’re most welcome.

Beautiful Music

,DanaInfo=exchange.ad.mdp.com,SSL+910music.jpg

When you love your TomTom, you really LOVE your TomTom.

Sandra Lewis, a very happy customer went out of her way to share here thoughts about her TomTom.

Here’s what she had to say:

Is there a way to let you know how much I LOVE my Tomtom device? My family is really famous for getting lost coming out of stores. I bought my TomTom in February and was afraid to open the case till June! So last week I finally set up the device. In one week it’s gotten me unlost four separate times. I am sooo happy, you cannot believe. I’ve even written a 30 second jingle song, I love it so much!

Believe, me you will never ever find a family that gets as lost as mine! And now you have freed me from a life of following others in my car, waiting for others to drive me, begging others to drive with me, not going places because I get lost.

P.S. Forgive my voice - end of the year for school, and one tends to lose one’s voice!

And here’s what she had to sing!

(Thanks Sandra for your kind words and mellifluous orchestration)

Enjoy, and if you think you can write a song about your TomTom, we’d love to hear it, feel free to share it with us.
